About Glacier Gate Chimney

We sweep and inspect chimneys and clean dryer vents across Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls. That is the whole list. We are not a masonry contractor and we do not sell stoves or fireplaces, which means nothing we recommend is pointed at a second invoice.

The name is Columbia Falls' own - the town has called itself the Gateway to Glacier since long before any of us were sweeping chimneys here.

How pricing works

You get a firm number before work starts and that is the number on the invoice. If we open something up and find a genuine surprise, we stop and talk to you rather than continuing and adding it at the end.

On inspections specifically

We quote repairs separately from inspections and there is no obligation to use us for the work. That is deliberate. An inspection report that only makes sense if you hire the inspector is worth very little in a purchase negotiation, and every competent agent in this valley knows it. The report has to stand on its own in front of the other side of the deal, which means being just as clear about what is sound as about what is not.

• A Level 2 inspection when a Level 1 answers your actual question
• Repairs quoted from a photograph rather than from a camera in your flue
• Anything involving a snow-loaded metal roof that can safely wait a fortnight
